Notes on Our Approach
The object remains more important than the interface
Wafflerocketznd is an independent, informative website about interactive systems that adapt educational content to museum visitors.
We write for educators, exhibition teams and culturally curious readers. Our starting point is not a product category. It is a person encountering an object and deciding what to look at, what to ask and how far to follow an explanation.
Adaptive interpretation can be useful without being spectacular. A clearer description, a reversible choice or an honest statement of uncertainty may matter more than a conversational persona. We treat visitor autonomy, accessibility and responsible scholarship as design conditions, not optional additions.
How to read these notes
The four main essays separate interpretation, access, data and editorial authority so each can receive careful attention. In practice they overlap. A translation decision can become an access issue, a source issue and a data issue at once.
Hypothetical object encounters are teaching examples, not reports of particular museum installations. Photographs establish a gallery atmosphere and are not evidence of the systems discussed. Pull quotes marked as editorial principles are our own formulations, not quotations from visitors or museum professionals.

Sources and limits
We link to primary standards and professional resources where they help readers investigate a claim. A link is a route to further reading, not an endorsement of every statement on the destination site. Standards can support a process; they do not prove that an installation is accurate, accessible or lawful.
We do not claim affiliation with ICOM, the Museums Association, W3C, NIST or any museum discussed in linked resources. This site does not provide legal advice, certify systems or sell a museum AI platform. Readers making procurement, safeguarding or data protection decisions should involve the relevant specialists.
Corrections are part of the work
If a passage is unclear, a link fails or a distinction is wrong, please tell us which page and which statement you mean. A source or a short explanation helps us assess the issue. Do not send confidential collection records, sensitive cultural material or visitor personal information.
